Joeffrey Calimag, Ph.D

International Business

Dr. Calimag is an Assistant Professor of International Business and Management at the University of Ulsan (South Korea). His research interests include issues and trends in International Business and Management, and Politics. He acquired his Master of Public Policy, International Relations and Political Economy, Economics and Public Policy at KDI School of Public Policy and Management (South Korea) and his Executive MBA in Global Management at the Helsinki School of Economics (Finland). Dr. Calimag earned his Ph.D. in International Studies/Korean Studies at Hanyang University (South Korea) in August 2014. Presently, he is in the Advanced Project Management Program of Stanford University (USA).

 

Dr. Calimag has received numerous awards and grants such as the Global Ambassador Fellowship, Korea Foundation Fellowship, One Asia Club, and GSIS Grants.

 

Last June 7, 2016 he was awarded by Bagong Bayani Foundation Inc. as a Bagong Bayani Award for Outstanding Employee. Currently, he is actively involved in migrants’ financial literacy programs in South Korea.

Ma. Avic Caparas, Ph.D, CPA

General Management / Organizational Behavior

Maria Victoria Caparas is an Associate Professor at the University of Asia and the Pacific – School of Management. She conducts research on people management, focusing on work-family balance, manager-subordinate trust relationships, diversity and inclusion. Her recent works include a.) a study of manager-subordinate trust in the Philippine context, b.) research on work-family practices and policies in Asian countries, c.) a study of how SMEs and large firms differ in work-family balance programs.

 

Dr. Caparas teaches masters courses in Organizational Behavior, Human Resource Management and Management Research Methods. She taught in UA&P’s postgraduate programs, SBEP and ABEP, on wide ranging topics as accounting, finance and leadership. She gives seminars on work-life integration to companies. For the past several years, Dr. Caparas has maintained an active affiliation at the International Center of Work and Family and the Cross-cultural Management Network, IESE Business School, Barcelona. During her sabbatical year in 2006, she was the first Visiting Scholar of Catalyst, Inc. in New York City (U.S). Dr. Caparas received her Ph.D. in Management from University of Navarre (Spain), her Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of London (U.K.), and her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration summa cum laude from University of the East (Philippines). She was a top notcher in the national board examination for Certified Public Accountants. Currently, she is a member of the Academy of Management (AOM) serving as a reviewer for its two conferences (2012-13) and is an Ambassador of the AOM-Human Resources Division.

Jose Mari Abeleda, MBA

Marketing Management

Professor Abeleda is a lecturer in Marketing and Advertising, Master in Marketing Communications, Management/Retail Management and Professional Salesmanship and Operations. In Marketing, his specialization includes New Business Research, Budgeting, Planning, Development and Execution of Marketing/Advertising Plans and Public Relations. He acquired his Master of Business Administration at the University of the Philippines in Diliman, Quezon City and his Certified Trainer in Sales Management under the institution of Certified Business Professional. In Finance, he has general working knowledge from Planning, Budgeting, Monitoring and Control, Financial Analysis with emphasis on Bottom line responsibility.

 

He is consultant in different fields including a.) Facilities Planning and Development for Operating Cost Reduction, Compressed Natural Gas for Public Transport, b.)Research and Feasibility Study Development, c.) Marketing of Autogas Conversion kits for Petrol vehicles, and c.) Downstream Petrol Station Retail Visual Imaging Contracting to include Health, Safety, Security and Environment Management.

Maria Steffi Manhit, Ph.D

Human Resources Management

Steffi has over 25 years of professional managerial and human resource training and development experience. She has worked with senior executives and the lowest ranking staff members of private and government institutions. She designs and conducts training programs on Training Needs Analysis, Administration of an Executive Training Institute, Job Evaluation and Salary Administration, Personnel Policy Formulation and Executive Recruitment.

 

She also serves as faculty and mentor at the University of Asia and the Pacific’s School of Management and School of Economics, teaching Human Resource Management, Human Behavior in Organization, and Organization Behavior.

 

She finished her Ph.D. in Curriculum Studies at University of the Philippines, Diliman. She took the Diploma in Strategic Human Resource Development at Ateneo De Manila University and accomplished her Masters in Education with Major in Special Education at University of the Philippines, Diliman.

Joselito Florendo, CPA

Accounting & Financial Management

Professor Joe Florendo is the Vice-President for Planning and Finance, Director of the Budget Office, Chief Accountant and Director of the Business Concessions Office of the University of the Philippines and Investment Officer/Assistant Executive Director of the U.P. Foundation, Inc. Currently, he is an Assistant Professor and Chair of the Department of Accounting and Finance at the U.P. College of Business Administration and Accounting Workshop lecturer of its MBA Program. He is also a Program Development Associate for Planning and Finance for the Chancellor of U.P. Diliman.

 

He has an International Masters in Small and Medium Enterprises from the University of Malaya in Kuala Lumpur (with distinction) and a B.S. Business Administration and Accountancy degree (cum laude) from U.P. Diliman.

 

Aside from his regular local trainings and seminars, Joe also regularly teaches accounting and finance for the Philippine Business Council in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. He ranked 15th in the May 1994 Certified Public Accountants Licensure Examination.

 

He also named national winner of the Deloitte-FINEX 2014-2015 Outstanding Finance Educator Award on September 16, 2015 for teaching Accounting and Finance courses for 22 years.

 

He was also awarded the 2016 Outstanding Public Officials and Employees or Dangal ng Bayan Award for their extraordinary acts of public service and constant demonstration of exemplary ethical behavior last December 19, 2016.

Jesusa Bigay, CPA, CMA

Leadership

Suzan is a Certified Public Accountant, an International Certified Management Accountant (CMA) Australia, an Entrepreneur, and an Educator. She is the Chief Executive of DM Competitive Asia Inc. DM Competitive Asia is a Business Consulting and Tax Accounting Firm specializing in helping SMEs here and in Asia.

 

Suzan is a professor in the Graduate School of Business (MBA and Economics). Her major teaching and research interests are in the areas of Managerial Accounting, Tax Accounting, Entrepreneurial Finance, and Leadership Management. She is a professional lecturer in De La Salle University-MBA Program and in Chartered Business Administrator Program-Canada. She is a faculty member of University of Asia and the Pacific in Entrepreneurial Management (Philippines). She is the favorite and mainstay lecturer and consultant in DM Kompass Business Education in Manila and abroad. Suzan designs, develops and conducts executive training programs in accounting and finance in multinational companies in the Philippines. Her participants are junior and senior executive officers.
